Rupert Egerton-Smith, Piano
Whenever we find ourselves discussing the career of Rupert Egerton-Smith, we always invoke the axiom “Good things come to those who wait.” The reason is simple. Egerton-Smith worked as a legal consultant for many years while still pursuing the piano as an avocation. That all changed when he met and played for Cosmo Buono, who told him that he had the talent to pursue a career as a concert artist, and to prove the point sponsored his Carnegie Hall debut through the Alexander & Buono Foundation. Some would say the rest is history, but we all know that one debut does not a career make. That concert was more than a decade ago, and since that time Egerton-Smith has gone on to perform in some of the world’s most distinguished venues and with some of the world’s most celebrated orchestras, fulfilling the dream of becoming the best artist his extraordinary talents will allow. And from where we sit, as we continue to invoke axioms, the best is yet to come.
