Combining technical prowess with a rare blend of interpretive skill, Rupert Egerton-Smith was dubbed “a pianist and musician of the highest calibre” (Walter Aparicio, New York Concert Review) following his triumphant United States tour, during which he demonstrated a command of the instrument audience members and cognoscenti alike labeled nothing short of extraordinary.

His US appearances included performances at some of the East Coast’s most prestigious venues. At the invitation of The Lambs, the oldest professional theatrical organization in the United States, he performed an all-Gershwin program for their Sesquicentennial Celebration prior to his debut at The Church, the internationally celebrated arts center in Sag Harbor, Long Island, which was followed by a concert at New York’s Kosciuszko Foundation that included works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Scarlatti, garnering reviews that labeled him an artist who “performs with definition, tremendous clarity, and technical mastery.”

Having performed for Her Majesty Queen Camilla at Salisbury Cathedral earlier this year, Egerton-Smith appears extensively throughout the United Kingdom. Last year he completed a successful tour of Asia which became the subject of a documentary entitled Evolve. He has also appeared at the famed Salle Gaveau in Paris, where the performance was broadcast on the national television network France 2, before completing a sold-out concert at Berlin’s Philharmonie, and a series of recitals at many other prestigious venues throughout Europe. His playing has been described as “particularly impressive” (International Piano Magazine), while the UK Daily Telegraph portrays his artistry as boasting “stunning and real strength.”

As a composer Egerton-Smith has written scores for the BBC, Channel 4, films, documentaries, and trailers for major motion pictures.

In addition to his current appearances with the Orchestra of St Johns where he is Artist in Residence, he has also appeared with the Bristol Classical Players, and returns to Carnegie Hall this fall by special invitation as a featured guest artist for The Annual ABC Gala.
